T-Squared: Our Public Schools Explorer Gets an Upgrade

Today we take our public schools explorer — your source for graduation rates, test scores and other Texas education data — to the next level. Our revamped explorer makes it easier for you to navigate information on all Texas school districts and public schools.

Since 2012, our popular public schools explorer has been the leading source for anyone seeking graduation rates, test scores, teacher salaries, demographic breakdowns, enrollment numbers and more for all 1,219 school districts and 8,646 public schools in Texas, including hundreds of charter schools and alternative campuses.

Today we’re pushing the app to the next level. The new and improved Texas Public Schools Explorer makes it even easier for you to navigate information on a school or district level.

The redesign of this explorer, led by News Apps developers Ryan Murphy and Annie Daniel, uses the latest data provided by the Texas Education Agency. We incorporated feedback from readers, parents and other interested parties. Their suggestions helped us determine which statistics needed to be placed front and center.

Want to know a district’s ethnic makeup? Just search for the district’s name. Curious about a school’s accountability rating or its college readiness measures? We’ve got what you need. Don't know the exact spelling of a school name? Start typing and the search function will auto-populate until you find it.

We’ll continue to upgrade the explorer, and we hope to continue getting your feedback. Send us your comments at schools-feedback@texastribune.org.

Texans need truth. Help us report it.
