Democrat Maxey Scherr, an El Paso attorney, announced her candidacy for U.S. Senate in a video released Thursday. She is on a growing list of candidates vying for the seat held by Republican John Cornyn, painting him as a proxy for U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz.

Democrat Maxey Scherr, an El Paso attorney, announced her candidacy for U.S. Senate in a video released Thursday. She is on a growing list of candidates vying for the seat held by Republican John Cornyn. In the video, Scherr attacked U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, saying that he is "the epitome of everything that is wrong with Washington," and that Cornyn is following his lead.
