There are only two weeks left in the 83rd legislative session. Obviously, there’s still a lot of work to be done. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun.
The Tribune is thrilled to announce the 2013 Session Scramble, a Legislature-themed photo scavenger hunt. Think of it as Instagram with cut-throat competition instead of sepia tone filters.
Here are the rules: Use your smartphone to snap pics of items on our Capitol-themed challenge list, which you'll find in the game. The more challenges you complete, the more points you win. Earn a spot atop the game's leaderboard and you'll take home one of our sweet prizes, each guaranteed to help you forget these tumultuous final days of the session.
Joining the Session Scramble is simple. Just follow these steps:
2. Open the app and create your username and password.
3. Tap "Join Existing Hunt." Enter “Session Scramble” and tap the "Search" button.
4. Start taking and uploading pictures from the Capitol (and beyond) that fit the challenges.
Fair warning: Our moderators will review all submissions to make sure they do, in fact, match.
The Session Scramble, which is sponsored by Crosswind Media & Public Relations, runs from Monday, May 13, to Sunday, May 26. We'll announce the winner on Sine Die day, May 27. While the joy of the game is reward enough, we’ve also lined up some excellent prizes for the top scorers, including these:
Two-nights at Travaasa Austin — Enjoy two nights of the Your Travaasa spa package.
Four-show package to Texas Performing Arts — A four-performance subscription to the 2013-14 season. Includes two tickets and parking to four performances of your choice, excluding Broadway and concert attractions.
Three nights at Las Verandas — Just off the Caribbean Coast of Honduras, the brand new Las Verandas Hotel and Villas offers golf, diving, snorkeling and shallow or deepwater fishing.
Central Texas Getaway — One-night stay (Sunday to Thursday) at San Antonio's Hotel Havana, plus dinner and cocktails for two at Arcade Midtown Kitchen in San Antonio and dinner for two and a gift bag from Shady Grove in Austin.
If you find yourself falling behind in the game, don’t give up. A special prize will be given to the most creative photo as chosen by a celebrity judge on Sine Die.
Special thanks to our friends at Arsenal Advertising + Public Relations for their help producing the game, as well as Travaasa, Texas Performing Arts, Las Verandas, Havana Hotel, Arcade Midtown Kitchen and Shady Grove for providing the prizes.
