Perry Zings GOP, Calls Medicaid Expansion "Coercion"
Gov. Rick Perry on Thursday called the Medicaid expansion piece of federal health reform “fiscal coercion” and blamed “friends and allies in the conservative movement” who have embraced it, saying they have “folded in the face of federal bribery and mounting pressure.”
Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, Perry, who ran a failed bid for president last year, also seemed to take a shot at his party. He suggested that claims published in the media that voters had rejected conservative causes would only be true if Republicans had “actually nominated conservative candidates in 2008 and 2012.”

Yeah, right. And then we put in the liberal socialist that you advocate for that will make the state the new Detroit? Just say no to the liberals!

For once he is kind of right... we've had 2 Neo-cons for the past two elections (presidential wise).

Perry showed that he is a product of the GOP machine in Texas--all talk no brains!

Perry is the Governor of Texas, which means very little in the scheme of things--if you ever took Texas Government.

It's official. Texas once again leads the nation. We have more minimum wage or less workers than any other state according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Does your business need cheap, cheap, cheap labor? Come to Texas because we are definitely the cheapest! On top of that, we also lead the nation in uninsured citizens. Stand by your guns, Gov. Rick. Your refusal to expand Medicaid should keep us number one for years to come. Cheap labor and no benefits. What more could a business ask for? This is definitely the best place for business owners. For workers, it is a very bleak place. History tells us over and over again, that the downtrodden will only take so much until they are forced to drastic action. Should be interesting to see how things play out.

"He's been governor of Texas for the past 27 years — that counts," Norquist joked. "He's very good on immigration. He's great on taxes. He just needs to not take the painkillers for a while."
I hope Grover is better with tax numbers that dates. I seem to remember Rick only being gov since 2000 when W left. I think that is a bit closer to 13 years unless he is using the new math. Of course, maybe he and Perry should pass on the pain killers or a while.

David O: I'm no fan of Grover, and therefore I'm not defending him, but I took his quote as tongue-in-cheek.
