Updated, 10:30 p.m.: State Rep. Naomi Gonzalez, D-El Paso, released a statement regarding her arrest on Thursday, saying that the recent events were "concerning" for her.
"However, I would like to say first that my thoughts and prayers go out to the other persons involved," she said in the statement. "I hope you understand, I won't be commenting further until the legal matters have been resolved."
Gonzalez added that she appreciated support from her family, colleagues and friends and said she is "committed to moving forward and continuing the important work of this legislative session."

She's likely driven under the influence before and never been caught (or never charged). Few charged with DUI are busted the first time (they've done it before). Hopefully she'll seek some help/treatment.

How sad...

3 months in jail should sober her up.

Maybe she has and maybe she has not. I bet there are many who have driven drunk and not known it. Does that mean that they are drunks or alcoholics that need treatment? No.
Let us see how the case unfolds.

That's unfortunate.

Unfortunate because she's a democrat?

I'm a democrat - she needs to have the same consequences as any other citiizen.

She'll say she's sorry, cite her hectic schedule, lack of sleep, some out of the ordinary meeting, pay a fine and be good to go.

With this TX Lege, I'd get drunk, too...

Do note that even a conviction for DWI in Travis County simply means you were stupid enough to be away from your lawful address after 10 PM and has cause to come to APD's attention. Any further assumptions about her behavior are unwarranted. The use of the blood test should stand as evidence of innocence, as they only bother using that gambit with the stone sober.

Wow, I can not believe this..For once I actually Agree with Stanley Moore!

Unfortunate not because she is a democrat but because she is a human being and if guilty will have to face the consequences that will reviberate for a long time.

Decissions have consequences. Bad decissions... I really have no sympathy for her unless she is an achoholic and little there since she has the education and resources to have sought help before.

Joe, I still have sympathy for her but that does not mean I excuse her behavior and her choices.
