Texas State Regent Nominee: Job Presents No Conflicts
Vernon N. Reaser III, a nominee to the Texas State University System Board of Regents, said Monday at a Senate Nominations Committee hearing that his job as president of the state's largest alternative teacher certification program would not conflict with his duties as a regent.
"When I take my oath and my pledge to the Texas State system, my job is to advocate for, in all possible ways, to make [the system] the best it can to continue working on what I think are really exciting things," Reaser said Monday.

Mr. Reaser and Mr. Watson don't seem to understand that there are other universities in the Texas State University system. ALL Texas State University System campuses have non-profit Alternative Certification Programs. Sam Houston State University offers a completely online program, and Lamar - Orange did until its numbers were reduced from 300 to 10 by for-profit competition.
Clearly the Senators are willing to take Mr. Reaser at his word. But they might want to ask for evidence because it seems his word leaves a lot of information unspoken.
