Perry Backs Changes to Student Testing Requirements
Gov. Rick Perry has added his voice to the growing chorus of state leaders who support revamping the state's newly implemented student assessment system.
"Without accepting anything less from our schools, we can debate the best way to measure their performance," he said Tuesday, addressing a gathering of business leaders at an education policy summit in Austin. "I support recent efforts to evaluate our testing methods, to help determine the best mix of STAAR testing for students."

For Governor Perry to call our public schools a "one size fits all" institution offends me as a teacher and shows how very little he knows about what's going on in our classrooms. We differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students. There's no "one size fits all" about it!!!
