Todd Staples: The TT Interview
In his new book, Broken Borders, Broken Promises, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples continues his admonishment of current border policies and advocates for a change in immigration and security measures. The book follows the launch of his website ProtectYourTexasBorders.com.
Staples, who has announced his intention to run for lieutenant governor in 2014, sat down with The Texas Tribune to discuss his response to critics who say he is only pandering to the far right, what is wrong with current immigration policies and what he would do to fix them, the stories he hears from ranchers and farmers on the ...

This dumb bunny should ask Rick Perry about politicians who write books and how that come back to bite them in their fanny.
But more importantly, this clodhopper announced he was running for Lt. Governor almost a year ago. - less than 90 days into his current term as AG Commissioner. That is absurd. Clearly he has little interest in serving as Ag Commissioner. The legislature should take this into account when reviewing his budget request.
Texas does not need or deserver statewide elected officials who spend virtually their entire four year term campaigning for another office (and uses a special interest lobbyist as his campaign consultant).

I agree with Pickles, Todd Staples sounds pretty useless...and inarticulate as well. Like a red-neck in an empty suit.

Proof that this politically movtivated. Staples and Perry complaining about not enough Fed money for the Texas border, but are making noises about declining funds for medicare/medicaid.
Bidness as usual in Texas

Truth be known, "Border Security" is a red-herring for politicians who do not want anyone discussing interior-immigration-enforcement. That's why Republicans are always shouting !!!!!BORDER SECURITY!!!!!! - to drown out any mention of national E-Verify. If E-Verify were mandated across the country, illegal immigrants would self-deport in droves...because E-Verify identifies most illegals who have used fraudulent SSN's and birth certificates purchased at their local mercado.
So when you hear Rick Perry and Todd Staples shouting !!!!!!!BORDER SECURITY!!!!!!!, rest-assured that they are distracting us from attempting to enforce immigration laws in the state of Texas - so the 1.8 million illegal immigrants living in Texas can stay in Texas. Rick Perry is fully aware that Texans have been involuntarily spending $$BILLION$$ to subsidize illegal labor for Texas businesses (illegal immigrant education, healthcare, welfare, incarceration)...even while the state budget is being cut for Texas citizens' education, healthcare and public safety.

Hey Todd,
Maybe you didn't get the message. The whole anti-Hispanic thing was tried all over the country. It didn't go so well for the Republicans. Ask Mitt Romney how that whole self-deportation thing went. More likely, you think you can talk and act as dumb as Rick Perry and get away with it. I think people are gettiing pretty tired of governance by willfully ignorant rubes. Get with the program. Stupid is out, even if the primary voters haven't gotten the message.
Dumbest interview ever. What does any of this have to do with being Agriculture Secretary?

A few years ago E-Verify was on the table in Austin but went down the drain and I remember asking a Democrat Rep. why?? and he said not enough police to enforce it ; what an idiot ,that was Senator Kirk Watson.
Charles Voith here explained E-Verify : identifies most illegals who have used fraudulent SSN's and birth certificates purchased at their local mercado and stolen I.Ds ; that would be the solution of all problems here in Texas; you need to understand politicians , they are all alike , their pockets and interests comes first and we Texans don`t count . The Only solution would be for all of us Texans to stop fighting against each other and forget being democrats and republicans and Decide what is best for Texas and all Texans and we tell the retarded imbeciles in Austin to get out and go on a permanent vacation with no pay no retirement and no benefits and we replace them with honest Texans Citizens ; until that time the Cahos goes on at our expenses and the Borders are wide open and illegals, drugs , and criminals keep invading our land. Texans, think about it. Thanks.
