Texan Perry and Californian Brown Battle for Business
What could be more fun than a throwdown between Governor Goodhair and Governor Moonbeam?
Rick Perry is on a four-day “business recruitment trip” to California, escalating his raids on Jerry Brown’s economy and getting enough attention to, maybe, get some businesses to think about moving. After new taxes that were imposed by California and Congress at the end of 2012, Californians — including decision-making executives — are among those who pay the highest taxes in the country.
Perry spent a pittance — $24,000 for a radio ad in a state like California has a smaller audience than a tweet from Paris ...

Your comment about the California economy "getting better" is laughable.
California has the 3rd highest unemployment rate in the U.S despite every advantage in the world, has more houses empty than some states have in total, now has a socialist running the state, and less than 40% of Californians believe that the state is heading in the right direction.
The only reason California politicians project a budget deficit of only $1.2 billion is the billions of extra tax dollars by the "takers" in the California economy.
It is precisely this reason that Perry is targeting the socialist-impacted businesses who have a legal and ethical responsibility to maximize shareholder value...and to pay millions upon millions of extra taxes to remain in the land of fruits and nuts, when a low-cost, high-value alternative is available flies in the face of that responsibility.
Governor moonbeams response, to the equivalent of millions of dollars of PR for a $24,000 ad and Perry's expenses on the trip, remind me of the "Wizard of Oz" when Toto exposes him for what he really is..."ignore that man behind the curtain"

Perry should be handing out "tax incentive" coupons to not just companies, but for those nearing retirement who are facing the prospect of living on tax-reduced nest eggs in the most expensive economy in the US (at a time when the income from their accumulated nest eggs are being stepped on by artificially depressed interest rates). A retirement dollar goes a lot farther in Texas than it does in earthquake alley and Perry should be trumpeting that fact.
I'm all for "stealing" every intelligent, non-moonbeam socialist, from California. I'm also for restricting California's access to Oil and Gas products if they insist on using everyone else's reserves and sitting on theirs.

As an aside, I just bought a house in California to retire and be closer to the family. Comparing property, sales and income taxes it's a wash There are many more regulations to deal with. Just to make an offer there was a 12 page disclosure form.

Is that my money rick! Yeah, thanks for making us all the more laughing stock fodder for the world. You aren't running this state. You think you are running for prez. Can you get it through your head that you are a has-been, and Texans are sick of you and your embarassing antics. You and Greg need to spend some time at home, in the closet.

oh mike...you are so wasting your so-called talents of astute business acumen here. Thank gawd.

LOL! From where is this statement coming? "The state’s finances are getting better, and the economy there is improving more quickly than the national average." (It can't be from any objective analysis of CA's economic situation!)
Californians working in the private sector, and hence a significant portion of the state's tax base, has been consistently "bleeding" from that state for some time now. All one has to do is look at the results of the last (2010) census where the gain in U. S. Reps. for CA was ZERO; and Texas gained FOUR...the most in the nation...twice as many as the next closest state, Florida. Brown is desperate because he must know that CA's high taxes and unsustainable pensions, etc., are driving people and businesses from his state to more tax and business-friendly locales. In the near fure, no one should be surprised if there's a plea to DC and the Obama administration for a taxpayer bailout from their self-inflicted fiscal mess.

"Dim-Dem" Troll Alert!!! It's a classic, angry personal attack from "JC DemocratfromTejas;" but his insults include nothing factual and verifiable to even partially refute the statements from other commenters. Texas has open borders, "JC...," so feel free to migrate to whatever locale and taxing authority you desire.
The leftists' rage is more demonstrative of who they really are at their core than anything we conservatives, libertarians, or anything slightly "less Left" than the angry leftists do or don’t do. The rage is what drives them to be liberal in the first place. They despise any limitations on their behavior, anyone who might hold them accountable, or any thought that they might not be allowed to do as they wish.
The rage stems from their own deep-seated guilt and self-loathing, projected onto everyone else around them. To disagree with them only exacerbates their pain, because it suggests they might be wrong, which raises, in their minds, the whole specter of accountability and judgment for their unwise choices.

TX education systems are inferior to CA's, even after CA cutbacks (how many Nobels from TX institutions vs. CA??); CA gets no oil products from TX; stop whining!

Most every Texan I know has personally told me they'd prefer to live in CA if they could afford it.

This is hilarious! It sounds like competitors facing off for a football game. Perry is clearly getting under the skin of Brown.

Why does not everyone just skip over JC's post-there are silly, and Nick is a liar. Go home or be honest.

If anyone believes this entire dog and pony show is about anything other than Rick Perry's delusions of the Presidency needs to review our "Governor's" history in office. $24,000 ad buy in California is equivalent to lobbing spitballs at an American aircraft carrier. So again, we see how quick Perry is to use state funds for his benefit, and at the expense of our state. This entire circus is an embarrassment to our state's economic recruitment professionals. If Texas wants to be serious about recruiting, this is not the way to do it.
. And while the right likes to describe California as a "Socialist" nightmare, such rhetoric merely demonstrates a complete failure to understand the truth, and how.Little such rhetoric reflects the reality. California's economy is staggeringly large, and dwarfs Texas. And despite the rhetoric, this will not change in our lifetimes. And while it might be fun to call Governor Bown names like Governor Moonbeam, such rhetoric does little more than inflame the political rhetoric on both sides, demonstrate our state's leadership's glaring failures, and that California's Governor did not have the good sense to ignore Governor "Oops" pathetic attempts to get national traction.
