The Big Conversation
Is Ted Cruz, less than a month into his Senate career, already rubbing off on John Cornyn?
Cruz, who took office on Jan. 3 after winning election in November, has firmly established himself as a bold, vocal conservative unafraid to draw attention. This week alone, Cruz made headlines for voting against Sen. John Kerry's confirmation as secretary of state, bringing a pistol grip to a hearing on gun violence, publicly rebuking Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and introducing a bill to repeal federal health care reform.
Not to mention the senator's aggressive grilling of U.S ...

Redistricting and the creation of safe districts has created a system that has come back to bite the Republican Party and which they cannot control. If John Cornyn ends up with a primary opponent, because the tea party think he's not sufficiently conservative, we may end up with our first Democratic Senator in a long time. Cruz is probably about the limit for crazy, even for Texas. Much further than Cornyn and Cruz and you get into psycho territory.

I did not vote for Sen Cruz but I am already liking this guy. I think Texas made the right choice now. He has come into the ring swinging.
Karen Spivey-Cummings via Texas Tribune on Facebook
Yep, but Cruz will crash and burn. Hide and watch.

I'm glad to hear that Ted Cruz is already doing what he was elected to do. If it takes shaking up the establishment, and setting a fresh example,,,,fantastic!!

This baby seal basher is perfectly at home with Cornyn, the planet trampling ass clown, creationist peddling, Bible beating bottom feeders are out of their depths even in a mud puddle

Era hora! Somebody needed to remind John why he is there. KBH was useless. Hope he continues to raise Hell

Ted Cruz has no plans other than to be an obstructionist. His rhetoric is hollow. Cornyn wants you to believe he's everyone's guy. Like Dewhurst he'll blow with the wind including blowing hot air. So when Texans start to learn what denying Medicare funds trying to obstruct the health care plan and lots of other matters does to the average person, they both will hopefully go up in flames. People that support Cruz cannot tell you anything constructive he will do as he didn't have anything constructive on his website. Karen please do not hide. Let your voice be heard and expose this guy for what he is. Anyone can look good in debates against Dewhurst. Cruz's shallow rhetoric is already being exposed in recent interviews.

Derick Smith I agree 100%. We have to make sure to vote these people out. They are hurting Texas and the nation. Senator Cruz is nothing more then another puppet.

Isn't this a travesty watching our senators trying to out crazy each other. All Cruz did yesterday was grandstand, showing old clips out of context to impress his base. Seems he impressed a few more. It mean's more grandstanding is on the way. That is not governing it is theatre.

Cruz has shown himself to be even more ignorant than I feared. I think he may even be worse than Sister Sarah. I suppose this means Stewart and Colbert will have some good material for the next 6 years.

Leading from behind. We have one Senator from Texas and another who represents Fox News' worst moments.

Ted Cruz's performance at the Hagel hearing was an embarrassment to all Texans. Even if you disagree with the man, you do not treat someone who has served this nation so honorably in the manner Cruz, McCain, and Graham did.

Cruz ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ted Cruz is not rubbing off on John Cornyn, Cornyn is "Gangnam Dancing" around TEA-types to not get taken down by these misfits. Cruz has been given different tasks by McConnell for more exposure for a possible run for the presidency. McConnell thinks this novice has no real track record and pushed Cruz to the forefront with Marco Rubio as "curb appeal' or "Window Dressing" in different arenas for the maximum exposure. Cruz's attempt to make a good scene at the Assault Weapons hearing, fell on deaf ears with his supposed questioning of Wayne "FiFi" LaPew, of the NRA, as a firearm's expert, and fell flat on his face with his lawyer-styled presentation. The tools used and questions asked pale when YouTube video's show the fire power and quick rapid fire of assault weapons throwing definitions out the window, except to lawyer-types. Ted Cruz is a Canadian by birth and a bigot by training who thinks like white people because he looks more white than many. Look closely at the picture of him standing next to John McCain, Marco Rubio, Jeff Flake and Lindsey Graham when they put forth their version of immigration reform to try to pre-empt the president. Cornyn on the other hand, is allowing Cruz to expose himself as much as possible, because Cornyn feels the TEA party fringe nipping at his heels. Now Texans, Gear up, because Rick Perry is going to run again, and this is the Democrats best chance to remove this career politician, especially after his triumphant fall from grace in his run in the TEA-Republican Primary. TEA-types feel the heat of losing more offices and want Cruz and Marco Rubio to shake out as many Hispanic voters as they can. I for one can think, therefore I could never vote Republican.

Cruz's comments are incredibly stupid even if he is a TEA Party Southern Baptist.
