U.S. Rep Slams Obama on Gun Policy
Standing in front of a wall-to-wall rifle display, U.S. Rep. Roger Williams, R-Austin, told a small group of constituents and journalists Wednesday at McBride’s Guns that the Obama administration's effort to restrict gun access in response to recent mass shootings is “slogans over solutions.”
“It seems the Biden task force had a predetermined result from the beginning in wanting to enact more gun laws rather than address the root of the problem,” Williams said. “The solution will have to look at all the issues involved, including mental health policy as well as violence in our entertainment and ...

I agree, we need to look at health care issues, violence on tv, games, movies and such and the way they influence the minds of young (and old?). But what was the reason for not reviewing assault weapons and all this foolishness that goes with them? I don't see one given...kind of devalues your argument wouldn't it, Representative? Anything worth debate in the legislature should be worth review wouldn't you say? Generally, and particularly when you have a Representative saying that it is not necessary. No disrespect intended sir.

Oops, Freudian slip? I meant to say mental health issues.

Obamas 23 "executive actions" are all things he should have done 4 years ago, like telling BATF to DO YOUR JOB! His gun bans are unconstitutional on their face. The Supreme Court has already ruled that the Second Amendment is there to protect an individual right and that right applies to guns and parts "commonly used". Since the AR is the most popoular rifle in the U.S. and 30 round magazines are the most popular, with millions in circulation, they are protected from government attempts at confiscation. Go find the crazies, lock them up or treat them and leave my guns alone.

What? Roger Williams takes a daring political stand with an unreceptive audience, showing political courage and leadership?
Oh, wait, he's pandering to the slobbering Fiftycal goons at McBrides. Never mind.
What a waste of space there is between his ears.
Oh, and Five Inch-Fifty: there have been no Presidential gun bans; calm down and take your meds. The Constitution is what the majority of people of this country decide it is, not some immutable law; and only part of the Supreme Court ruled a part of what you suggest. The Court, and its interpretation of the law, are subject to change and revision. Maybe you should be, too.

Having that group together at McBrides raised the average IQ everywhere else in Austin. Look at the ethically-challenged comments by pro gun fanatics. Not too much bright thinking foing on.

Honestly, anyone believing the hype emanating on the right about gun control, needs to get help. When a person takes an untrue fact, "Obama is taking your guns", and somehow interprets a nefarious plan to attack all the amendments, such a person is irrational and irrelevant to the debate. Frankly, I question our society's collective sanity for in allowing such a person to walk around without monitoring much less carrying any weapon.

Rep Williams must have an A rating from the NRA. The utter nonsense that he says is a mere repeat of the NRA spox that testified in DC yesterday: look over there, look over there but looking at assault style weapons - nope. Why? Oh yeah, they are "popular".
Well, sir - lots of things may be popular - but here in TX, these same things are also illegal.
Then comes the hilarious: everyone needs a gun with the ability to shoot an unlimited number of shots, why - well, if a home is invaded by a large group of individuals - and the homeowner is scared, then their shots may be "off" and they really, seriously need to be able to shoot hundreds of times.
That is illogical anyway that one tries to twist it.
Was it just me, or did anyone else notice that he failed to mention the main take-away from the hearings: Background Checks for all gun sales?
Insert the absurd picture of jrbush looking under the desk for Iraq's WMD. Now we know that Rep. Williams will be doing the same thing - mindlessly looking at alternatives that are not based on reality or facts.
