Bill Would Require Annual UT vs. A&M Football Game
A bill that would require the University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M University to face each other on the football field every year was filed on Monday by state Rep. Ryan Guillen, D-Rio Grande City.
The two flagship universities had a longstanding football rivalry, playing each other every year from 1914 until this past season. That all came to an end in 2012 following A&M's move to the Southeastern Conference.
"This game is as much a Texas tradition as cowboy boots and barbeque," Guillen, an A&M graduate, said. "The purpose of the bill is ...

I will confess that when I read the headline, I was expecting Republican hypocrisy. You know; small government for po' folks who need services, big government to preserve "tradition". Alas, dumb ideas come from members of both parties.

NRA's CEOWayne LaPierre is scheduled to testify at a Congressional hearing, along with Mark Kelly, husband of former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.). who was severely shot in the head in a Jan. 2011 shooting that left six people dead. She and Kelly have become active in the gun control movement.
By REID J. EPSTEIN & JOHN BRESNAHAN (Politico)
VP Biden met with every side representing gun violence from victims to gun sales giant Walmart to law officials.
President Obama has unveiled a broad array of new gun control proposals last week, but already his administration has narrowed the main force of their effort behind just one:
1. Universal background checks.
In order to protect our children and our communities by reducing gun violence, he and President Obama need your help.
The most important steps we can take will require congressional action. And Congress will only act if we all raise our voices to demand it.
Your voice in this couldn't be more important. Tell your members of Congress that you want to see decisive action on this issue.
Give them a call, let them know you support the President's plan, or if you dont agree, what ideas you believewould help end these horrific gun shootings.
Call and ask if your members of Congress are on board, and where they specifically stand or are willing to compromise anywhere.
Then make a call to a friend, post your opinion and/ or email their need to keep the conversation going.
The majority of us in this area states are avid hunters. We love our guns. But we are responsible lawful hunters. The President realizes this fact and has NO! intention of taking away our guns.
My husband is a Vietnam Veteran, has been a hunter all his life. Although he cherishes every chance he gets to hunt. He plans his holidays and vacations around this hobby; it is one way we fill our freezer and feed our family every year.
Even if our memories are filled around guns or fishing we both realize the recent tragic killings bring to surface a sad realization that we must face the fact that we ourselves will be partially responsible if we do not do something to cure our country of senseless killings.
After those babies were killed; at Sandy Hook, doing nothing is NOT an option now. No matter how much NRA lies or stirs propaganda; that fact remains. Those babies bodies at Sandy Hook were ravaged by bullets to a point that Veteran police vomited from the carnage. Yes! A mentally diseased mad young man did that action; but those little bodies could not be saved or even medically attempted to be saved because the carnage was so great! And that was due to the type of weapon and amount of ammunition in those magazines.
Adults bravely attempted to save the children but the repetitive bullets of these killing weapond would not allow it.
We as responsible hunters, loving parents, lawful citizens must realize that keeping these weapons from getting into hands of sick or unlawful must be stopped or we just spit into the faces of these grieving parents, families. I can't do this, I feel obligated to do something. Whether it be limiting ammo magazines or mental illness screening or severe background checks.
So please, continue my conversation, consider my opinions respectfully , then voice your own thoughts, discus this issue with your family ,friends and let us know how you feel. What do you consider is a responsible reaction to those lost children's parents.
I've considered school guards. The children are the Nation's greatest treasury.
But teachers don't want to carry weapons. This young man's weapons were from his Mother who did teach occasionally.
In Columbine carnage, there was two guards present and could not get to the children in time. In the Aurora Theatre, there were several people who had weapons with concealed carry licenses, military were in the theatre . They could not get a shot off without harming innocent bystanders before the killer managed to complete his savage agenda.
The guns, type of guns, that can ravage a body in so many seconds of response time is meant for war, military and not as toys, hobby or selected weapon a sick person uses. The outcome is too great, too numbered.
A football player that has a young beautiful wife, so much to live for, has not only killed himself but his wife. These headlines have been told so many times over. We can not stop young men from adrenal, aggression, tester one , heartbreak. But we as Parents, Educators, responsible citizens have to address boys, young men and brutality. Boys must be taught to respect not only themselves but also women. They must learn nurturing, and vocal communication before turning to fists, violence and guns instead of stopping and mentaling dealing with any situation with a sane perspective.
It doesn't take long. According to our records, here's who you should call:
So call
If Arkansas:
Representative Rick Crawford
(202) 225-4076
Senator John Boozman
(202) 224-4843
Senator Mark Pryor
(202) 224-2353
Or call the switchboard operator at (202) 224-3121. If you're not sure who your members are they will be happy to direct you.
Missouri's Representative Joanne Emerson is leaving office so just ask for House Speaker John Boehner
(202) 224-0600
or Leader Cantor from VA to
voice your opinions. Normally you will be left talking to the Representatives or Senators official communications director.
Or Google it ! Just don't do nothing.

WUT? so you want to have the country awash in more guns than you can possibly count? Because that is what you are advocating, opening the floodgates to billions of new guns on the streets of the USA. It happened with booze, and it happened with drugs, we declared war on booze and the country became afloat on a sea of illegal ethanol. we declared war on drugs and now I only have to walk a few feet from anywhere in the country to obtain ANY illegal drug I could possibly want. and YOU want to do the same with guns? MORON! no thanks.
ps this is an article about aggy and their obsession with The University.
AND it has incorrect information, 1914 is NOT when The University started playing aggy (it's division of agriculture and mechanical according to the Texas Constitution). The correct date would be
October 19 1894 where The University of Texas stomped aggy 38-0.
aggy refused to play TEXAS in 1895, 1896, and 1897, finally requesting another whipping in 1898 which Texas obligingly did 48-0.
and once again aggy has run away, like their old coach Paul "the loser" Bryant, and has come sniveling back to whine and grovel that they need to feed their addiction to being whupped repeatedly by The University of Texas. poor junkie aggy, poor poor aggy.

The guy is from Starr County and is an aggy that is probably frothing at the mouth to beat UT after the bitter loss last year and their successful season this year. Doesn't care about wasted time, effort or taxpayer $$$, just a matter of payback for all of past aggy but hurt.
