Garcia, Alvarado Headed for Runoff in SD-6

HOUSTON — Former Harris County Commissioner Sylvia Garcia held on to her edge against state Rep. Carol Alvarado in the SD-6 special election on Saturday night, and they're headed for a runoff. Garcia finished with 7,416 votes, about 45.4 percent of the ballots cast. Alvarado received 6,803, about 41.6 percent. Republican R.W. Bray, who garnered 29 percent of the ballots during the November general election, received about 1,000 votes, or 6.2 percent.

I really think that Sylvia Garcia is a more Educated and Refined Women. Carol has been in a State Representative in Austin for 2 Sessions and I have yet to hear of anything she has done. My Vote is for Sylvia Garcia. A Commissioner, City of Houston Controller,Attorney,loved by all!! She is what I want my beloved Children to look up to. Sylvia for Senate 100%. Lets stop all the drama with the Legacys and lets make our own new Future that will accomplish things that the People of Texas can respect and recognize us for. God Bless and Vote Sylvia Garcia!!!Me and all my neighbors are so proud of all the Volunteers and the People of District 6 who united for a change!! God knows with the lowest turnout in Texas History we need a change in the Type of Person we send to Austin. Too bad Sylvia took the Latino vote for granted and lost her campaign for commissioner with over a million dollars in the bank! Now, she and Steve Mostyn think they can buy this election. She should have put more work into building her relationships with the community instead of giving herself a pay raise. Sorry Sylvia SD6 is not for sale!
