The Big Conversation
A new group may provide Texas Democrats with an answer to their long-ignored prayers for a political comeback.
Politico reported Thursday that the former national field director for the Obama campaign has laid out plans to launch a new national organization that could spend up to tens of millions of dollars to help turn Texas Democratic in the coming years.
The group, dubbed Battleground Texas, reportedly hopes to capitalize on the state's growing Hispanic population, as well as its black and liberal voters and progressive groups, to help deliver the state's coveted 38 electoral votes ...

I hate this kind of thinking the most. That what's good for the liberal side of the national democratic party is what's good for Texas. Let me guess they'll want anti-gun, pro-abortion, big government, pro-union candidates for Texas because that'll really help.
Of course they'll sell them as pro-education, pro-choice, gun safety, and worker protection candidate.
The GOP and the Liberatarian have a pretty firm foothold. Most of my friends ( the thirty and below crowd) that come from Texas are libertarian or liberal. Two are conservative. Yet the kids from my brother's age 19 and below are huge libertarians. Ron Paul fever is burning hot in young Texans.
I speak spanish. Many of my spanish friends that date back two to three generations to Texas seem to run apolitcal, democrat, GOP, or libertarian. It seems balanced between those three with apolitical being dominant.
So not scientific or anything, but hmm I think democrats are misunderstanding what makes Texas tick. They seem to think like other states if they run a "social" conservative (not really though) who's fiscally liberal they'll win. They keep trying. It works in other red states and swing states after all, but not in Texas.
Libertarians got a million votes in Texas last election. They didn't win anything, but that's an impressive total for a third party. Have the democrats thought that to have a chance against the GOP they should start running pretend "fiscal conservatives". No, probably not. Spending is all they like.
So until they figure out about Texans love of fiscal conservatism they'll remain floundering. I know I won't vote for them and nor will my cousins (all libertarians). That's just my take.

This is your Democratic mentality
The prestigious Washington, DC school where Barack Obama sends his two daughters has 11 ARMED security officers as standard operating procedure for ALL of its students and is moving to hire a new police officer in the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting by a madman.

: EPA costs US economy $353 billion per year -- A gift of 20 new F 16 given to Egypt . money for failed green energy companies, chevy volts, abortions, gays getting married at West Point and of course obamanotcare, Also, we have plenty of funds to spend on TSA agents to search little toddlers and old ladies in wheelchairs on a daily basis! to the Welfare, Food Stamps, Medicaid or "Obama phone" programs, wasted BILLIONS of dollars on crony-connected, "green energy" boondoggles that failed miserably ; all the ACORN affiliates/umbrella groups got tons of money to make sure the welfare bums made it to the polling places.....; increased foreign aid by 80%, each year Billions of our tax dollars to just about every country in the world now. Over $300 Billion is spent on illegal aliens each year.
Billions spent on some of the most stupid grant studies, WHY ASIAN WOMEN HAVE SEX WHEN THEY ARE DRUNK , A SHRIMP ON A TREADMILL ,WHY A BEE FLIES and on and on. There are so much nonsense they spend our money on. But THEY quietly LET FEDERAL FUNDING FOR SEVERAL KEY SCHOOL SECURITY PROGRAMS LAPSE IN THE NAME OF BUDGET SAVINGS . But No Budget in the last 4years.
Government plan...DISARM American Citizens... GUN FREE ZONES IS WHERE THE BIG MASSACRES TAKE PLACE
Yea lets punish those guns , but the Mental Criminal that pulls the trigger goes Free.
Chicago, with some of the strictest gun laws in the country, racks up it's 500th murder of the year.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/... There were 40,000 traffic deaths in 2011, but I don't hear any outcry over that . Why not confiscate all guns from the drug dealers, gang bangers , MS 13 and criminals first and than see if the crime rates drop. It just seems not matter the crisis government always wants to take away the guns from law abiding people first. Or how about the 40k people killed in Mexico how many were killed by the guns Holder allowed to be sold to the Cartels??? Yet the entire Fast and Furious scandal seems to be pushed aside to cover so many mistakes. WHY is it that H.S needs 2 Billion rounds of ammo ;and for what purpose ??
I am not a gun creazy and do not like violence . Are Americans so gullible and ignorant that we will put
our Constitution, our children, our teachers and the security of our homes in a lower security category than that in which we put our politicians?
God help us. But God isn’t allowed in our schools. Or in our public places ; but you accept and allow Islam teaching in our schools.
Democrats brainwashed socialists Stay the hell away from Texas.

So they want to turn Texas into a kind of California with spurs? Good luck with that. Texas is already a minority majority state, and still elects only Republicans at the statewide level. A big difference is that in Texas, there are many more people pulling the wagon than there are people riding in the wagon. In California, those riding in the wagon outnumber those pulling the wagon, at least at the voting booth.
To their credit, Texas Latinos are much more likely to vote Republican than their California cousins. If you want heavy taxes, bloated government and heavy handed regulation, move to California, Illinois, New York, etc. Those who want economic freedom are moving to Texas. God bless Texas!
Jose B. Gonzalez via Texas Tribune on Facebook
The presidential election is a precursor of what's to come in Texas... Only people related to an ostrich would stick their heads in the sand and pretend its not true. We are now just a few years away from a major shift in voting power within Texas. It's simple math, the numbers say it all... RIGHT OR WRONG, LIKE IT OR NOT - the indisputable fact is Latinos and other minorities are on the verge of changing the political power within Texas.
Ron Hignight via Texas Tribune on Facebook
He had better hurry with the 'launch'. Republicans have re-districted all red states to insure re-election.

@ Rafael's - Still trying to sell those lies about Hamas? It is a lie! Still trying to convince us that the profile and beneficiaries of our Foreign Aid has changed substantially under this President. And frankly, it would appear you need medication when you make absurd claims about our schools teaching Islam.
So, we can let this gun argument descend into ridiculous claims by the NRA about the Government taking our guns and wait for the next bus load of children to be gunned down and sacrificed on the altar of delusions of Wayne LaPierre, or we can have a real discussion about legitimate steps that will help and which do not diminish our Second Amendment Rights.
Dale Curry
What I find amusing are all the Republican posts of bravado and challenge. Keep whistling past the graveyard. The Demographic shift is well on it's way and you can deny it all you want. But ultimately, talk is cheap. And I stopped believing Republican lies after Bush v Gore.
See you at the polls!

Flipping Texas is just a matter of voter registration and turnout. The numbers are stacked against the R's when it comes to people, but not money. Investing money in Texas is a smart move by the D's. The NORTHERN D's need to shut up about gun control and even rural Texas will flip with the return of the blue dogs.
Paul Hughes via Texas Tribune on Facebook
Don't mess with Texas!

Shortly thereafter will Texas join California and New York in bankruptcy.
