Wade — the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case that legalized abortion — the lawyer who successfully argued the case talks with the Tribune about being a woman in the Texas Legislature during the 1970s, how women’s rights have changed and recent anti-abortion legislation.

Cecile Richards has spoken about how painful it is coming back to a Texas she doesn't recognize any more: mean-spirited, dictatorial and regressive GOP bullying of women. We can only hope Texas women start voting the Tea Party into oblivion.

I found it interesting that she said she feels positive about women influencing the legislature, but didn't mention women joining the legislature.

When you are instrumental in bringing about the legality of infanticide, everywhere you choose to go would be painful. Perhaps she also has trouble recognizing herself as an advocate for the destruction of the most helpless in our society. If there is one issue in which our nation's troubles originated; it would be Roe vs. Wade. Abortion is violence against the innocent, no wonder our nation is entering a violent phase. May God Have Mercy On Us.

Sarah Weddington you are a national hero for women. Eventually we shall overcome, thanks in large part to your contribution a very long time ago. I remember how things were before Roe v. Wade and it was hell. Roe v. Wade was our glorious moment of freedom in this country. I will fight it until my dying day to keep women's right to choose and family planning for all.

Everyone who knows Sarah knows her brilliance. But in addition, she is a true friend and a champion to women all across the nation. It is hard to think that after 40 years the struggle for women and the fight to maintain legal and safe abortions still exist. Thank you Sarah Weddington for everything you've done for women and your brilliant career.
