Hoping to avert another debt ceiling showdown, President Obama has found a little common ground with U.S. Sen. John Cornyn.
Cornyn, R-Texas, told the Houston Chronicle's editorial board on Thursday that Congress wouldn't let the federal government default next month.
"We will raise the debt ceiling. We're not going to default on our debt," Cornyn said, adding, "I will tell you unequivocally, we're not going to default."

and my retirement pay check from the u.s. army after 24 years of service is 50% of my base pay...=$1300.00 per month with medicals for myself & my family out of my pocket & retired senator k.b. hutchison's paycheck is $179,000.00 per year with all medicals & benefits paid for with our tax dollars. that comes to about $15,000.00 per MONTH!!!! for what ???? for an average of working 2 days per week. with how many paid holidays & expenses???? the government works for me i don't work for the government!!! THE GOVERNMENT IS THE SERVANT OF THE PEOPLE!!!! government needs to start serving the people & get your poop together instead of serving your pockets & intrests!!!! AND WE THE PEOPLE ARE IN CHARGE and to do so we have to STAND TALL , UNITED , BACK TO BACK ARM TO ARM!!! do your job or go home!!!! STOP SPENDING!!! STOP WASTING!!! John Cornyn helped draft the Economic Development Hand Book in Texas when AG, it also has no teeth to stop fraud and waste. I would never support Cornyn or anyone he supports just on the EDC Hand Book alone. His office wouldn't even respond to emails that I sent.
