There is not a consensus on banning assault weapons or even high-capacity clips, unfortunately.
Even liberals know we will never ban hunting rifles & shotguns or handguns. But even still the 2nd Amendment advocates will tell you the purpose of the amendment is not hunting, its protecting themselves from the gov'ment.
There in lies the problem. The most common sense solutions are acts of the government whether its a ban or registration, and that taps the root of their paranoia.
