What if Bush Leapfrogged Other Texas Republicans?
What if George P. Bush wanted to run for governor in 2014?
It’s not what most people are talking about, now that he’s knocked on the political door. When he filed papers this month designating a campaign treasurer — the first legal step on the path to a candidacy — most of the conversation focused on the lesser statewide offices, things like land commissioner and comptroller.
And his father, former Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida, sent out a fundraising letter last week saying his son was looking at the General Land Office.
But if you are, like many political journalists ...

Ugh...gawd, what an ego.
Message I hear from grassroots Conservatives: No more candidates named Bush, especially ones from Florida. Conservatives don't believe in dynasties or entitlement and this smacks of both. And pointing to the color of your skin is no way to win a Republican Primary.
Governor Bush? Not from this "little brown one" as his grandfather once so aptly put.

George P. Bush can run for any office he wants, but the bottom line is he's a Bush, TEA-Republicans in Texas want someone they can control and he has so little experience it is doubtful he can gain office with the new influx of Democratic voters. Texas will thrust more towards non-career politicians in the future as TEA party fringe push radically right and the state begins to moderate.

Sorry, youngling. Your kinfolks already poisoned that well; we're gonna be a LONG time recovering from the last batch of Bushit Crazy we got suckered into.
Uncle Neil might have some tips for you on get rich crooked without politics, though.

If his policies are the same as his dad and uncle, then no-go. This so called "compassionate conservatism" is neither compassionate nor conservative. We, in Texas are looking for somebody like Ted Cruz who will rock the boat and bring true principles. I havent heard anything on what GP Bush's policies are like. @TexasTribune, how about some investigative reporting on what his views on the issues are!!!

Jim, it's early at this point.
One could make a pretty good guess about what he believes in, or will say he believes in, since he's running here in Texas.
Second, the Tribune can't really ask specifics about the issues facing the job, since no one apparently knows what he's going to run for.
I agree with the above--go back to Florida--we've had enough Bushes (yes, one is enough).
