Immigration After the Election
The election last week showed many in the GOP that it may need to fine tune its message on immigration. The tight race between President Obama and former Gov. Mitt Romney motivated Latino voters — largely for Obama — and caused some immigrants to fear what a Romney administration could mean for their future.

Fine tune is an understatement... They need to start by getting on their hands and knees & beg for forgiveness... Maybe then, this generation will forgive/forget their harsh rhetoric...

Yes, fine tune is an understatement. They have no message except get out we don't want your kind. Ted Cruz is a fine example of what their message looks like, "I made it in, but the rest of you need to go somewhere else..."

@bibi i agree.... ted doesnt seem to understand that.

Fine tune? The need to pass immigration reform and the Dream Act. And stop obstructing this. I cannot imagine any minority voting GOP for a very long time.

The GOP is the party of hate. Blacks, Hispanics, Mulsims, any anybody else that isn't white. They also hate anyone that doesn't agree with their political/religious agenda.

The also have a war on women.

After the 2010 midterm elections where Republicans won races up and down the ticket I didn't see Texas Tribune run any articles that maybe the Democrats needed to pay attention to the conservative mood of the country. Because Obama won by 2% we need to pay attention to every liberal idea? I don't think so.

Mcclure - the numbers you should look at are the only ones that matter/count - the Electoral College vote. Those numbers make the 2% you just mentioned as insurmountable...

They should get off our welfare rolls before telling Americans how toaybve. Maybe they should consider working for the kids education like the rest of us.

"fine tune" is not the terminology I would use and the Texas Tribune should know better. They were influenced by radical environmentalist white supremacists and radical change is called for not "fine tuning!"

The same big business “Mega” construction and all of their minions are promoting open borders and pushing for an unlimited supply of low wage workers that they can exploit for the slaves they need to reap billions in profit. The dirty truth is that these workers don't just wonder into the country on their own. They are enticed and recruited through a pipeline of human traffickers who bring them into the country by the thousands to do these mega construction jobs. Human trafficking is what they call it. We the public subsidies their workers in every way possible so they can profit handsomely. While we the public bears the costs of lost jobs, increased numbers to educate, medical care, increased crime, increased housing costs due to supply and demand. So what’s new? Obama is still the President, our borders are still wide open and the USA is still being invaded by people from foreign countries….

Ya you bet 20 some odd million illegal aliens voting when they do not have the right to vote and the crooks in the union swings states cheating and know wonder Americans stop vote when a few union swing states decide our leaders makes one really look twice. I say hell no to amnesty and let the chaos and then civil war come. The credit card will rejected soon enough and then watch the show then.

No indication it really would change anything. Most Liberals vote purely by emotion and are single issue voters.
Blacks voted Obama because he is black
Young Single women voted for free contraception and abortions. Instead of Uncle Sam just call him Daddy Sam
Young college students voted for more student loans and less restrictions on paying it back
Hispanics joined the overall minority vote for welfare with immigration being a secondary issue
Obama Care was big with people not wanting to buy insurance since they still are convinced it is free
If you are likely to be swayed by the promise of free contraception then you are not really paying attention to the real issues that have far more impact on the country's future and survival.
No mention in the Dem campaign of Debt, deficit, reforms to medicare, social security, medicaid, or reforming welfare...... Main message was free contraception, free abortion, free health care, more food stamps, amnesty for illegals and doubling the spending on green energy and government jobs.
Answer of the dems to reducing the deficit,,,,, tax the rich,,,,,, very popular with the masses since most people are not rich. The main problem with this is that taxing the rich only solves 5% of the problem. What about the other 95% you need to reduce the deficit?
No the Republican message cannot compete on any level with these people. That was Mitt Romny's point about the 47%. They have made up their minds to vote for whatever they can get and nothing,,, no amount of money or talking to them will ever change their minds. They are living in the moment and only want what they can get right now. Next week , next year or 5 years from now means nothing to them.
People in the Ghetto, kids in college, Hispanics calling for open borders and amnesty, single women with children and no father do not even know what the debt is. They do not care we run trillion $ deficits. They are not thinking about medicare when they get old. They know nothing about social security nor do they care. All they know about medicaid is they pay the bill when they show up at the hospital. They do not understand or care that the Fed is printing billions of 4 every month devaluing the $ making their futures less certain when they are getting the same amount of money they have now but it might be worth half as much.. They do not care that within a decade we probably will owe over 30 trillion in debt and WHEN NOT IF interest rates rise,,,, interest payments on that debt will exceed half the revenue the federal government takes in.
The majority of Obama voters have no knowledge of any issues of real substance and they really do not care.
No the REPUBLICAN MESSAGE IS NOT POPULAR and certainly not palatable to the general public. Not as enticing as the message of come and get your free stuff and do not worry.
