Appeals Court Refuses to Rehear Planned Parenthood Case
The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday denied Planned Parenthood's request for the court to rehear a case about its involvement with the Texas Women's Health Program, meaning the state can move forward and cut Planned Parenthood out of the program.
Almost immediately after the three-judge panel's ruling, the key players in the battle issued statements on the decision.
"This case has never been about Planned Parenthood — it's about the Texas women who turn to us everyday," said Kenneth Lambrecht, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas. "Politics should never ...

Our Republican leadership is a disgrace. It will be a wonderful day when the majority of Texans respect women's rights and vote that way.

Perry later added "except for the people we execute annually, guilty or not, to honor our other State's other tradition of human sacrifice."

we respect life so much, we have executed close to 500 people in the last 30 years, whether they were guilty or not...

it doesn't matter if they throw 130,000 Texans under the bus. After all, they are only poor women.

When these men can birth a baby then they can have a say in a woman's decision on her body.

"In Texas, we choose life"? This is the state that puts more prisoners to death than any other in the world and he has the gall to say that?

Yeah, Perry thinks life is sacred... Up until birth, then all bets are off

You're pro-life and happy with the decision but you still think Perry is terrible? Sounds like you need to take a good look in the mirror. There is nothing pro-life about this decision. Need we be reminded you can't be pregnant and be on the Women's Health Program?

When women did, as they will as a result of the state's action, Perry and Abbott will never acknowledge their crimes against humanity. They should be taken to the World Court and put on trial. They have both given up their right to serve.

people are executed because the evidence was believed by a jury to be convicting. where is the jury when an abortion is decided? plz.....

Amazingly embarassing. Our judicial system in Texas and the U.S. is bought and paid for by men afraid of women in so many ways it is quite scary considering this is 2012. Planned Parenthood is not about abortion. But why should facts get in the way of the highest state and federal courts. Thank you Dick Cheney, Grover Norquist, Koch Bros., and all those sick members of the He Man Woman Haters Club. If only your mothers had used the option of choice!

Career politicians in texas must be excised next election. Confrontational TEA-Republican's are the bane of the problems we have in Texas. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has allowed Rick Perry and the state of Texas to cut funding for Planned Parenthood, when that money provided are funds for all the resident of Texas generated by Texans for Texans. An elite few can effectively force their religious rights onto others because monies will be used in a separate entity for women who have no other form of medical assistance. Texas' Governor and TEA-Republican's have taken steps that reduces women to go to back alleys and get services that will be devastating to some.
