This story has been updated with comment from state Sen. Wendy Davis' campaign.
State Rep. Mark Shelton, R-Fort Worth, on Wednesday called for a criminal investigation into his election opponent, state Sen. Wendy Davis, D-Fort Worth, and the North Texas Tollway Authority that contracts with Davis’ law firm.
Shelton sent a letter to Gregg Cox, head of the public integrity unit of the Travis County district attorney's office, requesting an “investigation into possible criminal activity by Texas State Senator Wendy Davis and the North Texas Tollway Authority.”

Davis has done nothing to help Texans........if Fort Worth & Arlington are full of conservatives there's no way Davis should be representing the majority.............

Shelton sounds desperate

Davis is well respected in her district. This act of desperation just might blow up in Shelton's face, but if he can come up with a little more evidence it might just get enough folks off the fence. I would have preferred that Shelton beat her with ideas and not obscure criminal accusations.

Chris: It does seem very odd that he is pulling this out. His polling must indicate a lack of progress, coupled with (what I would guess) Sen. Davis' high personal favs.

Texas needs a strong Democratic Party, but we won't get there by endorsing corruption.
Gordon Dickson's excellent investigative article in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram exposed the culture of corruption at the North Texas Tollway Authority and Ms. Davis' involvement.
Having a client subject to your votes in the legislature is bad enough, but starting a minority law firm ( Newby Davis) to receive minority contracts from NTTA, while continuing to work with your regular law firm (Cantey Hanger), sets a whole new standard in corruption. But wait ... there's more, telling the Star-Telegram she doesn't see a problem makes it a comedy.

Davis is another Parent PAC baby. Good luck to her district with any sort of representation that doesn't jive with the agendas of Charles Butt and Bill Ratliff, her puppeteers. What a joke it is that a few old men own so many politicians in this state. What a joke it is that so many of our politicians have huge government contracts that profit when there is conflict.

In Canada, Davis would have Had to step down from her own law firm, or, alternatively, abstain from voting on any matter that could conceivably benefit her firm. I don't see how this is difficult to grasp. There must not only be fair play, it must be evident.

Democrats need to start trying to win by being honest instead of pulling all sorts of tricks. It is incredible how corrupt their party is, and it starts with the President of the USA and goes right down the party line. I sometimes think they delight in being able to to do crooked tricks, and fool voters. When somone who is high up in their party gets away with corruption, seems the rest follow to see if they can do the same. The voter ID that they refuse to be allowed in Texas is exactly the type of corruption they love. Who would not want to have an election that is honest? The Democrats do not want an honest election as Obama is planning on being re-elected by letting ineligible people vote. Don't Democrats have sense enough to know that will eventually destroy our country - or is that what they want? Obviously that is what they want.
