With 85 MPH Speed Limit, Trucks May Avoid New Toll Road
In a matter of weeks, a 41-mile stretch of toll road with the fastest speed limit in the country will open in Central Texas.
But truck drivers may steer clear of the new high-speed road, said John Esparza, president of the Texas Motor Transportation Association, which represents the trucking industry in Texas.

On the 75mph toll, I am stuck daily behind people going 65 in the left lane, while I feel I should be going 80. There aren't and weren't always speed limits on remote Texas Highways. Speed limits do little more than produce revenue for law enforcement and a false sense of security. Driving is always dangerous.

a lesson in how to waste more gas, since higher speeds use more fuel. Texas, the silly state!

Thats why they are lowering the speed limit on competing roads.. to force people onto it. This and other toll roads are not in the interests of drivers or the taxpayers.

"Agency officials have said engineering tests demonstrated that an 85-mph speed limit is safe for the new toll road." Can anyone explain to me exactly what test there is to determine something that simply has not existed yet??? Did they drive big rigs, car, p/u trucks, motorcycles as well as any and all vehicles of every size, shape, color, weight, width, height, and length, on this highway....all at once....without any regard for human life...for 10 to 20 years....as it will be done in reality???? The ONLY way to determine is this road is safe is to use it. Hell. I can make a cow turd look good on paper but it;s still a cow turd.
