The Oops Diaries: Gay Pollster's Role in Anti-Gay Ad
"Obviously, the Strong Ad didn’t rescue Perry in Iowa. It’s not clear anything could have at that point. But the attempt to hide [Tony] Fabrizio’s role in the making of a notorious anti-gay commercial — to leak a fraudulent version of internal division to a national publication — is another reminder of how messed up Perry’s campaign became."

From Chapter 17: “I Bow To You.”
Once the “oops” moment happened, a widespread feeling took hold within Gov. Rick Perry's campaign that a comeback was uphill at best ...

I'm at a loss as to the "Swagger" Perry had/has referred to. Give any politician and the opposition will try to create a gaff for exaggeration. The "Streaking Texas Turkey" in fact did flame out over Oppsville and all his handlers are working hard to put Humpty back together again for yet another run. Look at it from an independent's view point. The Trifecta teams wound up with not the first, second or third candidate, but the richest who bought himself the nomination. Gaff aside, the TEA-Republican parties joined with the Evangelicals and Libertarians to oust moderates and are now stuck with what's-his-name. Texas is now split between TEA, Evangelical and that once proud party of Lincoln. The republican convention showed in spades the gross incompetence and prejudices of the extreme controllers in the party. Their platform reeks of segregation and their timing and planning exposed their true vision. All the excuses placed forward are additional falsifications to limit fall-out from Perry gaffs and the contempt this party has for the common man in America. notice I wrote "man" because this segregationist party demeans women and tries to effect voter disenfranchisement across the nation. What turned me personally off was the in-actions of the eight on stage in Florida who did not shut down the audience when a soldier, in uniform, in theater merely asked about DADT and was booed. This party does not represent all the people. They are the resurgence of bigotry and prejudice in America.

The fact that he's an ignorant buffoon might also have contributed to the problems with his campaign. How many more times are we going to elect this jerk as our governor?

Numero Uno--get a new pic Rick. This has to be at least 10 years old!
Numero Dos--why are you running for prez 2016? No way is anyone going to take you seriously. Pandering to religion shall soon be passe. Your latest ridiculous embarassment (with a big WHO ASKED YOU ANYWAY):
"Perry laid out his idea earlier this week at the opening of a new crisis pregnancy center in Houston, according toRH Reality Check:
“The Source for Women clinics, in fact, will be part of Texas’s own Women’s Health Program, and Planned Parenthood will not be,” Perry told the crowd. [...]
Despite the fact that the Source currently provides only limited, pregnancy-related medical care and STI screenings, Gov. Perry is holding up the ideologically-motivated crisis pregnancy center as the future of comprehensive reproductive medical care for low-income Texas women. He even told the crowd gathered on Tuesday that Texas is excited about helping them spread their beliefs.
“The opening of this latest medical center will enable you to spread your message,” he said, “and do your vital work, on a significantly larger scale in the years to come.”

Time for him to join the "general population".

I think he's in his last term but will amass even more wealth as he gets payback from appointments and changes in regulations he's allowed. We'll have him around for a long time. Let's just hope he runs for president again. We could use a good laugh.

The ad struck an intensely raw nerve with gay activists.
I am not gay, but the Perry ad was such a pathetic attempt by gay Rick Perry and Fabrizio to wrap themselves in the flag and cross that it struck an intensely raw nerve with me.
The utter hypocrisy of a sleazy operator like Rick Perry trying to set himself up as the defender of Christian civilization was just nauseating.

My thanks to Mr. Gonzales for his trenchantly insightful comment on the current state of Texas politics.
This raises the question, how long will respectable people associate with the Republican Party?

Is there any Democrats talking about running for governor in 2014?
