Spirited Testimony at Women's Health Program Hearing
The Texas Department of State Health Services got an earful today from lawmakers and women’s health advocates at a public meeting in Austin to discuss proposed rules for the Texas Women's Health Program — specifically, the state’s plan to sacrifice 90 percent of federal funding for the program in order to exclude Planned Parenthood and prevent participating physicians from discussing abortion in any capacity with patients.
“Try to get the politics out of the way and do what’s best for Texas women,” said state Rep. Donna Howard, D-Austin, before an eruption of applause from the audience. She ...

How can you get politics out of the way in a government funded program?

The GOP in Texas have put their religious/political ideology ahead of what is best for Texas women's health care.

Rick Perry and the GOP of Texas are simply petty and cruel. There is no other way to describe a formal policy that will give up 90% of federal funding to help the poor and working class of Texas even when none of that money will be used to fund a procedure that conflicts with their ideology. These politicians have decided it doesn't matter if the issue is about healthcare, education or any social program, all that matters to them is playing to their base and promoting their cronies. They will only represent their wealthy friends and if you are not in their religious, social, ethnic clique you can simply go to hades. I'm just amazed at the level of disdain and the lack of compassion that Perry, et al show the people of Texas they claim to represent.

Healthy Texan
The sky is falling, the sky is falling, LOOK over there. The sky is falling, the sky is falling, blah, blah, blah. Family Planning will make it through without state spending. They get millions upon millions just so you can continue to pile your mistakes on one another with abortion on demand birth control. Its disgusting how the liberals pee down their pant legs screaming about getting the government out of the bedroom......unless of course, it is for free contraceptives, and abortion suction rods in the uterus. Pitiful.

The funniest part of the whole thing was the admission that they intend to fund future years of the program with money from the extension of Obamacare (He does, by the way) that Governor Oops swears he will never let happen in Texas. The entire process of supposedly finding “state money” to replace the lost federal funds the program for the rest of this state budget period (to Aug. 31 of next year) is only to give Rick and Friends cover until after the next election. They really do not care if thousands of women actually lose the services as long as they can claim “It isn’t our fault…We came up with the bucks”….all the time knowing that without Planned Parenthood there are not enough clinics to cover the need.
