Patrick, Carona Snipe at Each Other in Email Exchange
The quiet race to be the next lieutenant governor of Texas spilled into a nasty email exchange between two senators with aspirations for that post.
In an email apparently sent to all of his Senate colleagues — and obtained and published by a political news website, the Quorum Report — Sen. Dan Patrick, R-Houston, accused Sen. John Carona, R-Dallas, of spreading rumors that Patrick and his wife were splitting after decades of marriage.
"I was in Dallas last week and learned that Senator Carona has told people outside the Senate that Jan and I are separated and may get divorced," Patrick wrote ...

Why does it seem fitting that a coupla out-of-touch Texas Republicans would be engaging in an "e-mail war," What will be Phase 2 of this 20-century feud? Flyers distributed at the post office? A station wagon with a giant speaker on the roof?

Is there a democrat in the running? I certainly hope so. I've had enough republican dirtiness to last the rest of my life.

Carona may be the best we can get but I like Eltife better. Forget about a Dem getting it since they are voted in by the members and there's a 19-12 advantage for the Rethugs.

You mean is there a Democrat in the running for an election that will be decided by the 19 Republicans in the Senate (there are only 12 Dems)? No is the answer.

Democratic party will have to start placing some money in Texas before Democratic candidates even have a chance of being competitive on a statewide ticket.

It's weird that you describe the sexuality suggestion but don't quote that part of the email. I had to google it.
Proud Texan
Cost of an email.....$0. Copying the other 29 Senators on an email.......$0 Carona basically saying, "Why would I spread rumors about you? I'll tell you what I think about you right to your face." Priceless

For years OTC The Offshore Technology Conference has been held in Houston in the first week of May.
The last couple of years the Conference has hardly been worth going to because, instead of the like old days the entire Conference was dominated by Politics.
Evey Republican comes crawling out of the woodwork to deplore the Obama Administration.
And before the CEO's of the big oil companies got on their Lear Jets to go back to their palatial offices they decried and slamed the Obama Administration and yapped about " how they are being held back in trying to "serve the world" How they need the subsidies and are embarrassed to have to explain the subsidies to a stupid bunch of taxpayers. The oil companies claim they do not get enough leases out of this administration (lies) they claim they do not get enough
money out of the Democrats and the subsidies and they tell who ever is still stupid enough to be listening about how everyone should vote Republican "because the "Republicans understand" From me... THE MORE MONEY THE REPUBLICANS GET FROM THE OIL COMPANIES THE MORE THEY UNDERSTAND.
One fat cat, on the last day of the conference was shouting that "he was sick enough to puke having to listen "about clear air" That fossil fuel was good enough for generations in the past and fossil fuel will always rule. Of course there were hours of ranting about how "Barack Obama was holding BP's feet to the fire. Making them pay and pay" How if the Republicans get into the Presidency "all this damn foolishness would stop".
Even Loren Steffy who writes in the Business section of the Houston Chronicle and knows what he is talking a bout all the time... covering the OTC... he was so disgusted that on the last day of the conference he just let loose... like I am doing now.
My family has been in the oil business for eighty years....and I am ashamed.
When one oil company official referred to the EPA as a bunch of shitheads... I just walked out.

What an irrelevant thing to email the entire Senate about. It only gives the alleged statement credibility and emphasis. Now he has an entire article about it on a popular website. This is a perfect example of the type of poor judgment/emotional decision making that will not make a good lieutenant governor.

These two remind me of a couple of fat, sluggish carp. The minnows of the legislature, over-sized bottom feeders. Catch and release? I don't think so. I usually leave them on the river bank for the buzzards.

I don't know much about Senator Corona. however, in my humble opinion there is no greater sleazebag than Dan Patrick. Dan Patrick is a disgrace to the State of Texas. Lots of disgraces in the Republican Party but Dan Patrick is in a place all by himself. I have followed this guys career (?) since he was in his twenties and I do not have one decent thing I can say about him. How in the hell anyone was stupid enough to vote for this pig is beyong me....

Idiot children will call names and get into trouble over absolutely nothing. Texas' one party state has more to do than watching or listening to these two TEA-Republican Yayhoos point fingers and cry like babies on the Texas stage. Vote both out! We do not need children in Austin whining and causing state-wide disturbances. Kick them out of office!

Just looking at the pictures of these two "conservatives" shows how desperate they are. Their faces would break if they smiled at all. No one cares if Patrick and spouse are getting divorced and Corona hasn't passed the buffet table without par-taking. Neither should be in office as both should be voted out. This convoluted track meet between the two factions of the TEA-Republican has proven the disruption of politics in Texas. And Texas' "Deer in the head lights" governor sides with Republican against TEA proves the fractured fracas. Every Democrat should take advantage and vote in Democrats across Texas!
