Slideshow: Bastrop State Park Shows Signs of Rebirth
Officer Roger Dolle, Bastrop State Park's site manager, examines a 100-foot clearing near a road that was previously dominated by loblolly pines and oaks. The Oak trees are coming back in a bush-like state because their roots resisted the heat from the fire more readily than the pines.

It was FDR and the Democrats who provided literally millions of jobs in the 1930s, and as a result Texas has more than a score of beautiful parks across the state built by the young men who took those jobs in the CCC (and others who took jobs supporting them in the WPA).
It's good to see that the park plans to put its power lines underground. That would be a preferable solution for all sorts of utilities all across Texas -- underground installations are more protected against wind and weather events than above-ground power lines are.
