Texas DPS Warns Against Spring Break Travel to Mexico
Update, 4:20 p.m.: Mexico’s ambassador to the U.S. this afternoon issued a statement condemning the Texas Department of Public Safety’s travel alert.
“Mexico strongly disagrees with the assessment made by Texan officials regarding travel to Mexico in general,” said Ambassador Arturo Sarukhan. “As their number one trading partner and largest export market, Mexico believes Texas should be able to more objectively evaluate facts, providing nuance and context, and in doing so, dispel the notion that their motivation is a clear-cut political agenda.”

I wentr in 2003 and it was bad then. Not just drug gangs, but the Mexican Federal Police too. We got shaken down and robbed by them more than once.

Major problems at our back door, yet we continue to try and police the middle east. Unbelievable.

We are, not surprisingly, able to deal with more than one international issue at a time. The issues in Mexico are not going unaddressed.

I've avoided travel by land - especially to the Texas border - whenever possible for the past few years. The advice given by the DPS is solid if nothing more than a warning about the potential consequences of losing control, of drinking yourself unconscious ANYWHERE, especially south of the border and especially if you are a naive young lady. It's not caballeros anymore, sweetheart.

Wiith the Perry Gun Gangs, promoting a policies of good guns fto sell, or gangs across the border, now the Perry/NRA, can boast that the gangs can kill Texas tourists, and college kids, along with Mexican women, children, police and soldiers. Wonder whats, happening with the new law, Perry is pushing, for non-citizens who live here 6 months with proof, electric bills, etc, will be able to buy all the guns they can afford. Anyone know whats going on with that?

Repeal the drinking age in the United States instead of forcing the outvoted discrimination victims to drink alcohol in Mexico. The drinking age is a real hate crime.
