UT/TT Poll: Texans Split on Another Term for Perry
If he really wants to run for another term as governor — as he told The Texas Tribune on Tuesday — Rick Perry has some work ahead of him. While 39 percent of Texas voters said they would be likely to support him in 2014, 51 percent said they wouldn't, according to the new University of Texas/Texas Tribune poll.
The supporters are less intense than the opponents: 21 percent said they would be "very likely" to support another term for the governor, while 42 percent said they would be "very unlikely." One in 10 voters were undecided on the re-election ...

Reverend Rick can be elected as long as he does what his bosses tell him to do. He has a gravey train running on the tracks in and out of Austin, and he doesn't have to worry about being elected. Those big dogs will finance his election, and there are enough like-minded people in Texas to keep him in office until his beard reaches the floor and his hair grows longer than a cow's tail. He has it made in Texas, and he won't be leaving the governor's mansion as long as he does what he is told to do. Amen. Wendell Franklin Wentz

I think for Texas we need to make sure Rick Perry is retired. Texas cannot afford any more of Rick Perry. We shouldn't worry whether Perry is the reason why Texas continues to create jobs, it has nothing to do with Perry. This happened during the 1970 also when Oil prices and shortages happened. Then the bust. Perry has nothing to do with Texas economy. However, he has let 1000 of contracts and billions of dollars go overseas. It time to put a true Texas in the office someone who actually is looking out for the People of Texas and the Republic.

Can't everyone see that longevity in politics is what corrupts it, get him out of there.

Perry needs to go.

It's time for Perry to play golf all day long...

39% of Texans obviously don't follow Texas politics.
Gretchen Weicker via Texas Tribune on Facebook
It "had no effect" because he confirmed all the negative national stereotypes of Texas and Texans.

Actually, the 39% get their info from Faux News.

I can't imagine anybody voting for this guy.

30 said 'no effect' because we're in that bad of shape already.

All the offices money can buy. Thanks to the Supremes. Let's start another super pac!! The ONLY way Perry can win anything is if he buys it. Can we not start a recall of rick NOW? Another term will kill Texas education, social services, life as we know it. Perry only speaks to his wealthy cronies. Repeal Citizens United.

Perry dead??! Nope, it's the alleged TX voters in this poll who are apparently functionally brain dead. When TX pols, including TX Congressional delegation, are exposed to national media (yes, that MSM) scrutiny, they all come off badly...Only W escaped, and he had KRove doing the handling. Hopefully, the primaries delayed to end of May will get more Texans observing their pols, and maybe, the TX media will shine a light on these pols; unless the media is too wrapped up in baseball by then.

It made no difference! Texas is worse off after 10 years in office!, period! A short time on the campaign trail flashing his uh, ignorance is just embarrassing!

Is 39 to 51 a "split"? A split to me implies a division that's vaguely equal. It looks to me that the majority clearly wants Perry gone.
This poll asking if people like Perry and approve of his job is operating in a vacuum. When the time comes that Perry is running against someone...then, if the opponent is at all personable, many of the fence sitters will have a place to go and it won't be to Perry's side.

Rick Perry's Presidential run definitely hurt Texas' image outside the state. I constantly have students asking how an inarticulate boob like him could be Governor of a major state.

Perry must retire ASAP. He double dips, gives contracts to cronies and takes credit for nonsense.

Rick Perry brought ridicule and folly to his bid for the presidency, and now he says he's going to run for governor again? Please say it isn't so! Bloodied and battered after crashing and burning, the toxic and tattered Texas turkey sulks back into his office for just three hours on just three days and licking his wounds. Rick Perry says he's going to run for governor and the presidency again, and one begs to wonder why anyone would vote for this man to be dog catcher? After making a fool of himself nationally, I cannot see him returning and being anything but a greeter at Walmart. Perry hasn't really earned his money as he hasn't been here to do his job. It's remarkable how the state went on without him being anywhere present. Looks like we don't need him, so maybe he should go away.
