Texas Parks Facing Long-Term Budget Woes
Texas Parks and Wildlife launched a public fundraising campaign last month to fill a significant budget shortfall. And as Erika Aguilar of KUT News reports, the next few years could prove even rougher for state parks if the drought and extreme heat persist.

Texas State Parks web site shows 99 parks in the state. State should consider selling marginal use parks, or parks with excessive mainteance costs. Take the proceeds and invest it in the ramaining parks. The state could be creative in the terms of sale if they wish to get the park back when state finances recover. For example give a 10 year lease, with options to renew. Or sell it out right with restrictions on use.

TX Lege should be flogged for misappropriating sporting goods taxes away from TPW. If all those $$$ were properly appropriated to TPW, there would be none of this whining. Vote only for honest pols (I know, oxymoronic) who will get TPW its taxes.

Selling them off is a bad idea. No many how many stipulations, you're not getting that land back. And then you'd have to rebuild the improvements you already have.
Stop being fat and lazy Texas, patronize the best part (and only good thing left) of the state.
