Liveblog: High Stakes for Perry in Tonight's Debate
We liveblogged the CNN/Western Republican Leadership Conference debate at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas, where Gov. Rick Perry had one more shot to make a better impression before a several-week debate hiatus.
Perry’s first four debates were nothing to write home about, and contributed to falling poll numbers after a commanding out-the-gate lead. At his most recent debate at Dartmouth College last week, the Texas governor appeared to be an afterthought — he got less airtime, and seemed to give less vehement answers.

After watching tonight's debate in Las Vegas, I'm proud to say it really was a debate, sort of! They constantly referred to cancelling Obamacare, killing the Frank-Dodd Act, killing our Social Programs, referring to Reagan over and over! There were some boos from the crowd when Rick Perry and Mitt Romney got into their disagreeing back and forth. That was new! The entire cookie cutter candidates said they wanted America to become isolated and would pull back foreign aid! Illegal immigration made the topic tonight and everyone danced around that! Paul was the only one who addressed briefly the housing bubble! Other than that, president Obama won this debate again! Perry was unsure on his feet, failed on numerous occasions to adequately counter the claims and continued to say he created jobs here in Texas! He lied again!
