A group of Tea Party activists pushing for stricter immigration laws Monday asked Gov. Rick Perry to leave the presidential campaign trail and call the Legislature back into session to tackle a ban on so-called sanctuary cities.

Not all Tea Parties agree with this idea. Some of us do not want the tax payer money to be spent on a another special session (we don't have much money left in the coffers to warrant a special session on one issue that couldn't get passed during a regular session or a special session) and we would not want this issue addressed via an Executive Order. We can't ask our legislature to come back to Austin every time a special interest group wants legislation passed, especially since most of our legislature also have businesses to run or jobs to work.

I wonder if Perry is starting to feel claustrophobic in the box that Tea Partiers are putting him in.

She sounds so entitled.

oh, yes, just like the Voter ID bill and the sonogram bill were EMERGENCIES! that required emergency legislation (gotta' keep people from voting again, right?) the sanctuary cities ban is an emergency. Right.

But who will she get to cut her lawn?

I am not liking ALOT of Perry's ideas BUT I think everyone should prove residency or NO voting! Why stack the votes with Mickeypersons who cant vote....its a priviage not a given! Why must people who come illegally be allowed to say in SA of anywhere.... they are illegal

Nana, we have the new Voter ID law, so that should take care of the voting issues and we don't need a special session to decide that issue.

Why does no one ever solicit opinions from the Native Americans on this issue and topic?
(Attention Tea-Party-Publicans: The answer to this is obvious for MOST of us. Rhetorical for us. Hot-Button topic for you)

This is done to just firmly establish that you don't like minorities and believe they're leaches. Though, you love the produce they pick and the cheap services they provide in such a low wage paying state, you just don't want them living near you. Maybe Republicans in Texas will come up with a way to have both, like concentration camps.

Typical t-party rhetoric. There are no Sanctuary cities. This is just another attempt to race bait and drum up more anti-immigrant hysteria. By the way, you can change your name from Dixiecrats to tea party all you want, but your still a bunch of bigots!

Really! Maybe I was just raised that I have to follow the laws and work or everything I have. Right is right and wrong is wrong! Why should some people do it right, work legally and pay taxes.....and others cheat? O by the way come to Texas, get FREE everything and still complain?
Nana Knowles via Texas Tribune on Facebook
I have been serving in the military for 22 years, pay my taxes, insurance, and obey the laws of this country.....yet I'm the bad guy "bigot"? People just want hand outs and cry they are not getting enough!
Nana Knowles via Texas Tribune on Facebook
If you are a true american, you should report illegals. People who want come legally......OMG.....just do legal. PAY YOUR TAXES
Martha Dunkelberger via Texas Tribune on Facebook
Nana, it is unfortunate that some one used the term bigot to describe a whole group of people. That's not right. However, when you state that in order to be a "true american" I must turn in the people who are (as covered above and in many other places) cutting lawns, cultivating and harvesting produce, cleaning homes, raising children of some of the very people who express fury that they're getting a free ride - I take offense.

And, Nona, I challenge you to spend some time talking to a person who is trying to "do legal" and find out exactly how difficult and expensive it is to earn legal status in this country.
Frances Demps via Texas Tribune on Facebook
Nana, what are your other tests for being a "true American?" That is an incredibly narrow-minded statement. By the way, the original illegal immigrants were the Jamestown settlers and Pilgrims.

is still waiting for the first documented case of an "illegal" that is on welfare. They are much like the President being born in Kenya even though his birth was "announced" in the Honolulu newspaper.
And if they pay no income taxes or FICA or Medicare taxes, have as much anger for the employer as the poor, working stiff.
