Perry, Social Conservatives and the Road to the Top
Twenty-six years after he rode into Austin as a Democratic House member from Haskell, Rick Perry sits at the top of one of the country's most conservative state Republican parties, having forged a coalition of economic, religious and social conservatives that has helped him become the state's longest-serving governor and poised for a national political run.
When he started, two of those groups weren't always welcome at the Republican table. Perry, who started his political career with "D-Haskell" appended to his name, fully consolidated his hold on the Texas GOP in March of 2010 with his crushing ...

Is anybody sick of Perry yet?

I am! Getting tired of all these puff pieces about Perry and how great it is here in Texas. For the cheap labor business lobby it's great, for the rest of us not so much. We are not all Conservatives here and personally I'm sick of being pigeonholed because of the idiots who show up to vote here.

He doesn't do anything for elderly rural teachers pension. $108 in
cash and no increase since 1999 and will now be 2013.. he should
understand he was once a starving farmer and the USDA helped
him out in 1979.. Old folks don't matter to him..If conservative means
not giving an 80 year old former teacher a raise since 1999, I consider
that criminal..Dell and Shell would be in jail if they did the same thing.

I wonder what it's like for the Tribune writers to re-write the same story every couple days.

I have asked them to look into the 12 years and how the retired 80yr OLDER teachers are treated.. $1500 a month, newer urban retired
teacher $ 36,000 a year...Wish he could remember the beans and
cornbread he had to eat in the late 70s when they were losing the farm..the Attny Gen was supposed to look into the $108 Billion that
is in our pension plan but republicans take care of republicans I guess.
On the Koch Brothers we need to find out their products and not
buy them.. I know Brawny paper towels was one of them I was told..
the more money we take away from not buying, the less they have
to railroad and control the Republican candidates...the greedy ones.

What a croc... Perry rode in on the illegal redistricting done by now FELON Tom DeLay in 2000. Please GOPTeaparty--run Goodhair for President in 2012. That would give REAL Texans a national platform to show how the Tea Bigots stole our state and maybe, finally marginalize their influence. The Spirit of Ann Richards may be down, but will never be forgotten !!!
