Is David Dewhurst Goofy — or Goofy Like a Fox?
It’s funny that you can win four statewide elections and still have people think you’re a goofball, in over your head. But maybe Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst’s fumbles leading to the Texas Senate’s budget vote give the lie to that. Maybe he’s goofy like a fox.

The most charitable interpretation of your analysis is that Dewhurst is a competent electoral politician who knows how to pander to a base he needs if he wants to advance. I dared to hope for a minute that the analysis would touch upon what he was showing leadership in addressing the State's needs. It is when you measure Dewhurst against almost any standard of leadership that the word "goofy" comes to mind.
