The comparison between the transparency people should expect from their governments and the privacy Americans want in their bedrooms is an absolute mystery to me: like comparing pigs to birds and then suggesting they can fly.
I find it extremely patronizing. It makes it seem as if it is ok. for government workers (because that is what diplomats are) to send away their customers and bosses (because that is what the American public are) as if they are a couple of 5 year olds. As billions and billions of taxpayers money are spend by the same government, and those decisions are usually made at the top - I think it is not wrong at all to want them to account for that in writing!!
Also - if there was abuse in that bedroom, would he not want that out and into court??
