Isaac Says Rose Uses Campaign to Gas His Truck
Jason Isaac, the Republican running against state Rep. Patrick Rose, D-Dripping Springs, in HD-45, says the incumbent is misusing his campaign accounts to cover personal transportation costs. He says via press release that he'll file a complaint today with the Texas Ethics Commission on Rose's gas expenses and what he thinks is Rose's misreporting of his truck on state disclosures.
Rose's gasoline expenses over the last five years amount to roughly a tank per week, according to Randy Thompson, his campaign consultant. He says that in a district that covers three counties, with trips back and ...

And the silly season begins in HD-45.

Patrick Rose is a worm. It will be good to finally get rid of that guy. Get a job, Pat!

jriggins, the mission of the Texas Tribune is to promote civic engagement and discourse on public policy, politics, government, and other matters of statewide concern.
If you would like to contribute something of substance to this article, please do. But your name calling is beneath this forum.
God Bless Texas.

That worm represents me and I'm sick of his antics. Now we find out he's just like every other corrupt politician: he's in it for himself. If you're offended by the truth finally coming out about Rose, ask your mother for a hug.

Clearly name calling is not beneath you.
jriggins
Yet the word "silly" is substantive discourse in your world. Steal that line from Rose's campaign statement?
I'm embarrassed we share an initial.

Help me understand- paying for gas with campaign money is not illegal and gas/vehicle is clearly a necessity in getting from here to there when a on is a Rep. During campaigns, attending community events, visiting schools, capitol office isn't close, honoring hospitals, meetings, event openings, ect. all spread over three counties in TX requires transportation. Gas is expensive. Is the complaint about gas prices or for not documenting the truck properly? To call that evil corruption is a bit much. More fascinating is the kind of campaign Isaac is assembling. Who are his seasoned handlers? Its a tactful mud sling which I can't imagine a newbie politico like Isaac orchestrating. They should skip the politic riff raff and debate each other and answer voter's questions.

How can not paying for a single tank of gas for nearly 6 years be considered anything but an abuse of power?
No idea who's running Isaac's show, but the guy is everywhere.

Yeah, sure its a lot of gas, I'll admit, but campaign money is donated not required. At least it wasn't the taxpayers money. My point is that instead of name calling which Isaac has quickly resorted to why not prove competence and ability to represent people by displaying intelligence & thorough understanding of voters' actual concerns. I'll say Isaac is definitely running a very athletic campaign and is everywhere but could he even carry on in a debate with Rose?

jriggins, it appears you will not let civility get in the way, and it appears you will not let the facts get in the way either.
The article states that the "gasoline expenses over the last five years amount to roughly a tank per week" not that he hasn't paid for a tank of gas in nearly 6 years.
Your comments represent the worst of the Internet: calling names, casting lies, and trolling for your candidate. I am sure you are a decent enough person, but your postings do you and your cause a disservice.

At no point do I want to gang up on strongly opinionated participants sharing their views or insight on topics presented but, jj baskin... you couldn't have stated it better. A disservice occurs. Its too often that voting individuals with fueled opinions rob themselves of any credability when commenting in a combative manner. It's mostly due to not absorbing clearly written facts or just the simple incapability of appropriately expressing themselves using civil language. Regardless, this particular race holds many more facets than petty jabs like 'gas tanks'. What moves this district's vote is simple. They vote for canidates they personally relate to the most & admire. Rose has proven himself and done wonders for the area, no argument. But now here is Isaac that is 'I'm just like you' canidate- family man, ect. lacking record or political experience. Is it the 'package' what voters like or is it displayed ability they vote for?
