Friedman Tells Libertarians He "Is One" in Spirit
Politician and humorist Kinky Friedman told a group of Libertarian Party of Texas delegates he was one of them “in spirit” and that the Democratic Party has become so self-interested that it’s "phenomenal."
Friedman was one of the LPT’s guest speakers at their state convention Saturday at an Austin Holiday Inn, where the former gubernatorial and agriculture commissioner candidate was given rock-star treatment as he hurled insults at the two major parties, which he likened to the “bullies on the playground.”
He kept his criticism of the GOP mainly directed at Gov. Rick Perry, but he chided the ...

Kinky is so full of himself he could never serve his country, that is why the Democrats rejected him.
He is a cousin to Glenn Beck.

And what is wrong with Glenn Beck?

He complains about Perry, but his self-centeredness is part of the reason Perry was able to win with only 39% of the vote.
And if you can't see what's wrong with Glenn Beck on your on, there's probably not much anybody can do to help you.

Beck is a misguided and mean-spirited misanthrope whose ratings have plummeted by 50% of late as sponsors are pulling their ads because they know that most of what he has to say is erroneous and without merit. I even had a minister tell me that although he himself was a conservative that Glenn Beck cannot call himself a Christian because of his position on social justice. Anyone who buys into his virtriolic spewage should do some self-assessment and learn to discern the different between personal principles and hard facts on the issues.

Was a fan for many years of Kinky's...read his novels, enjoyed hs columns in TEXAS Monthly. He killed his character off in his novels, and his schtick sounds bitter now rather than colorful. Looks like time for him to retire to his dog rescue ranch and strum his guitar...

It may be time for me to finally take Kinky's 2006 bumper sticker off my truck.

Kinky runs around with Racehorse Haynes and that crowd of Dems. When he was considering running for office he was backed by some of the more unsavory bunch in the TX Dem Party. He is an embarrassment to the Republic. He slammed the TEA org folks and is now trying to make amends? He really needs to go home to his dogs.

Well, this will be Kinky's third attempt at reinvention after not getting into office.
Kinky's coming across as the kid who was left out. People like you Kinky, just not for public office. Texas has some serious issues that need to get addressed. Same thing for Farouk. He is great at being a businessman , but Texas needs a winner in public office like White.
Don't go having a temper tantrum <kinky, and start getting critical just because the voters (not the polical party as you point out) decided they wanted to vote for someone who can get into the governor's office. You are insulting the voters.
