The West Texan who was John McCain's longtime wingman has resurfaced in the Massachusetts governor's race.

The Kermit native and on-again-off-again Republican, who served as the political director of John McCain's 2000 presidential run and, briefly, as chief strategist for his 2008 run, has resurfaced in Massachusetts, where he's signed on as a senior strategist to independent gubernatorial candidate Tim Cahill's campaign. Cahill and Republican Charles Baker hope to oust incumbent Democrat Deval Patrick, whose reelection bid is being advised by Barack Obama fave David Plouffe.
