Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor Ronnie Earle is using online video to introduce himself to more Texans, but his first foray isn't likely to go viral.

Earle explains why voters should choose him in his matchup against fellow Dem Linda Chavez-Thompson. But the former prosecutor's on camera presence doesn't quite come through clearly, especially when he's competing with music and changing digital images (likely created on a green screen) behind him.

"When the eye and ear compete, the eye always wins," a wise man at the Poynter Institute often says. It's an important lesson in television/video storytelling that Ronnie Earle may want to take into consideration, because I could not stop watching the rippling Texas flag, moving Capitol rotunda and Earle logo that appeared in the background of the candidate.
